Disaster strikes! This turned out to be quite a difficult cake. I wish that I had just made it shipwrecked on an island so I could just leave it falling apart (which it did after I was all done frosting the stupid ship!). But I persevered and made it stay together (with a lot of toothpicks)! I honestly don't even remember how I made it all - I think I blocked it out of my memory!
The funnest part for me is always the details - I had a blast rolling caramels into the railings, anchor, and wheel. It was fun looking for candy that would work for the cake - rootbeer barrels, gummy fish, nestle treasures, etc!
In spite of everything, I think it turned out fine.
